My intention is to keep this post simple and straight forward. I know the general idea is if you don’t succeed, try again but sometimes I just hate failing. You know you try so hard and put so much effort and then you fail. Not because you didn’t try. Not because you didn’t wake up early and not because you didn’t have the right amount of will power…
You plan and plan your New Year’s Resolutions, to the last detail and yet, You just…FAIL. I hate that. With a Passion.
What if I told you there is just ONE secret ingredient missing from your plans? In fact it’s just one ingredient, but it also happens to be the BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT. Until I figured this out, most of my plans for some reason would always find themselves either shelved somewhere waiting, or just straight in the bin.

Commit your works to the LORD, and your plans will be achieved.
Another one Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
It’s that simple. Before we made plans for ourselves, God already had plans for us. He has a purpose for us all therefore, it is important to make sure we are walking in His WILL for our purpose before we commit to our own plans.
The trouble comes when we trust our knowledge, instincts, environment and judgement more than we trust the creator of ALL things. We trust the economy, we trust our friends, we trust our family, but how much do we trust God enough to say, God, what do you want me to do now? To be able to say God, this is what I would like, but may YOUR WILL be done. It can be hard because we are a self reliant lot and we need to realise there is one above us, All Knowing, All Powerful Lord of Lords.
Proverbs 28: 26He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
How do we hear from God? Prayer, Fasting, HEARING (sometimes you need to be still in order to hear). Don’t be in a rush. Don’t be afraid to take your time to listen. He is after all the God of time, exiting outside of our time. He is the God of perfect timing.
When you are certain your plans are line with His will, offer them up to God. Ask for His blessing, His guidance, divine wisdom to know which next step to make through the Holy Spirit. If you still don’t know, or feel like sticking to your original plan or are not sure if your plans are according to His Will, still offer them up to God to have His way.
The result? Success! Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t unfold exactly the way you imagined, but be assured of divine assistance once you commit your plan to God.
